Haunted Museum sets candlelight vigil for opening tonight

Zak Bagans has delayed the much-anticipated opening of his Haunted Museum at 600 E. Charleston Road, just east of Las Vegas Boulevard, pairing the attraction’s debut with a candlelight vigil set for 7 p.m. today.

The Museum had been scheduled to open 1 p.m. Monday.

Bagans made note of the change in plans on Twitter this morning, saying, “Today we’ll OPEN The @HauntedMuseum to fans who flew here from around the world. We’ll hold a candlelight vigil tonight at 7pm #PrayForVegas.” The museum will be open for public tours beginning at 1 p.m. and running through 9 p.m.

Bagans is the host of the “Ghost Adventures” series on Travel Channel, in which he and a cast of paranormal experts seek ghosts and spirits at locations across the country. The series debuted in 2008.

Parlaying the series’ broad reach, Bagans has converted an 11,000-square-foot, historic downtown mansion built in 1938 into a giant haunted house. The property was originally owned by Cyril S. Wengert, a prominent banker, public utility manager, and civic leader who was instrumental in Las Vegas’ early development.
