Taste of the Town: Crepes of things to come, unearthed by alert readers

Mmmm … crepes. Mmmm … berries. As berry season approaches, berry-filled crepes sound even better. So I’m glad Taste of the Town readers have suggestions for Ingrid Stewart, who’s looking for the crepes from a source other than IHOP.

Marlene Drozd pointed out that the Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars Palace, 3570 Las Vegas Blvd. South, has a crepe station, which includes “a delicious mixed-berry offering.” And Carol Keenan recommended Blueberry Hill Family Restaurants, which has multiple locations in the valley. …

For Ken Doering, Valerie Weinberg emailed that Win Schuler’s Original Cheese Spread can be ordered; according to the company’s website, orders are through www.bogartsgifts.com, 800-927-0909. Or, Weinberg said, you can do as she does and ask friends to bring some when they visit. …

More on egg foo young: Michele Bonelli recommended China A Go Go, which has multiple locations in the valley, and New York Chinese at 655 S. Green Valley Parkway in Henderson. Diane Farone recommended the Coronado Cafe at the South Point, 9777 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Caron Raber recommended China Garden at 2253 N. Green Valley Parkway in Henderson. NEWS FOR FOODIES

Last week I reported that Blue Bell Ice Cream — beloved of Texas expatriates and, it seems, most anybody else who’s tried it — would be available in Las Vegas. That availability began Monday, in local Albertsons, Food 4 Less, Smith’s, Walgreens, Wal-Mart and Glazier’s Food Marketplace and some other independent supermarkets, drugstores and convenience stores. They’re being served from a distribution center in North Las Vegas; the company is adamant that, for quality-control purposes, only Blue Bell employees handle its product until the customer buys it. Oh, and their half-gallons are still half-gallons.

If you want to find out what all the fuss is about, you don’t have to spend a dime. Blue Bell tastings are scheduled from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday at Glazier’s, 8525 W. Warm Springs Road, and Albertsons at 7075 W. Ann Road. There will be tastings from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday at Wal-Mart at 1807 W. Craig Road in North Las Vegas and Smith’s at 7130 N. Durango Drive, and from noon to 2 p.m. March 13 in the lobby of Las Vegas City Hall, 495 S. Main St.
