In regard to coffee-flavored syrup — being sought by reader Martha Flynn — it seems there are a couple of schools of thought.

Jennifer Hent e-mailed that her “transplanted Rhode Islander husband” orders by the case from www.autocrat.com (or call 800-288-6272), as does Joan Fish.

But Vince Glaviano e-mailed that he found it at the International Marketplace, 5000 S. Decatur Blvd., and Donna Walker said Starbucks carries it. …

For C. Raymond Alderman, who’s looking for IMO sour-cream substitute, Kathy Niswonger and Janet McFarland suggested Albertsons, and McFarland also suggested Vons in the northwest part of the valley. …

For Fred Kaplan, who’s looking for scungilli (conch) in a can, Rose Obedo from Vinny Boy’s Italian Marketplace, 3620 W. Sahara Ave., e-mailed that they carry it. …

For all those looking for frozen rhubarb, Dodie Hoeppner wrote that she “finally found some” at Smith’s at 10616 S. Eastern Ave. in Henderson. …

More on Hawaiian foods: Shari West e-mailed that she finds the International Marketplace to be the best local source. Tish Little recommended the fresh or frozen laulau and pasteles, made to order, from Taste of 808 Catering, which can be reached at 586-0899. And Jack Fleming e-mailed that he was told by a manager at the former Longs store, now a CVS, at 1950 Village Center Circle that that store would be keeping a line of Hawaiian items, and that other CVS stores would carry some as well. …
