Splendor in the Glass to benefit public television

The 24th annual Splendor in the Glass, a benefit for Southern Nevada Public Television, is set for 3 to 7 p.m. Feb. 9 at the LVH, 3000 Paradise Road. The wine- and beer-tasting event will include samples from more than 60 wineries and breweries, plus hors d’oeuvres, a live wine auction, silent auction and live music. Chef Hubert Keller will demonstrate one of his signature recipes and will donate 25 autographed copies of his “Souvenirs” book. New restaurants open at Aliante hotel

The Aliante hotel (formerly Aliante Station), 7300 Aliante Parkway in North Las Vegas, has three new restaurants. The Salted Lime is centered on a margarita bar and serves south-of-the-border cuisine and happy-hour specials. Bistro 57 serves more than 57 wines plus breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner plates such as Croissant French Toast and Salad Nicoise. And the Medley Buffet has Mexican, Chinese, Italian and American live-action food stations. …

Sons of Norway holding lutefisk dinner

Love it or hate it, you may want to know that it’s lutefisk time again. Vegas Viking Lodge of the Sons of Norway has scheduled its annual dinner for Jan. 26 at the Elks Lodge at 1217 Nevada Highway in Boulder City. Seatings will be at 3 and 6 p.m.; tickets must be purchased by Jan. 20. On the menu: lutefisk with melted butter or white sauce, roasted pork, boiled potatoes, peas and carrots, lefse and Norwegian cookies. Packaged lefse (10 for $10) also will be available, as will aquavit. Tickets are $18 for adults, $5 for children 10 and younger and are available by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope with a note on how many are attending which seating, plus a phone number and a check made out to the Sons of Norway, to Gwen Knighton, 2156 Marstons Mills Court, Henderson 89044. Antoinette Bourque is looking for Barilla and Ronzoni pastina – a tiny cut I remember my mother-in-law recommending when my children were small – and Taste of the Town readers know where to find it. Candy Bakko of Kingman, Ariz., reported finding both at the International Marketplace at 5000 S. Decatur Blvd. and Guy Marigliano of Siena Foods at 6125 S. Valley View Blvd. said his store carries Ronzoni and Pastene brands of pastina. …
