Great breakfasts abound

Brad Dunaway is looking for places that serve breakfast with “good eggs … good orange juice and coffee” (and good hash browns, but more on that below), and it seems readers are eager to nominate their favorites.

Marilyn Waiters suggested the coffee shop at the Longhorn Casino, 5288 Boulder Highway; Arnold Austin suggested Bagels and More, 2405 E. Tropicana Ave.; Dan Brown suggested the Village Pub at 2610 Regatta Drive (and numerous other locations); Natalie Tantleff suggested The Egg & I, 4533 W. Sahara Ave., and The Egg Works, 9355 W. Flamingo Road and 2490 E. Sunset Road; Joann Campo suggested the Omelet House, which has several outlets in the valley. …

For Linda Hollis, who’s looking for frozen spanakopita, Tantleff said Trader Joe’s has it and Sandy Blanchette said Sam’s Club sells it during the holidays, adding, “I buy six boxes when it becomes available, as it stays nicely frozen for Easter holiday.” …

For A. Frances Drew, who’s looking for Durkees Famous Sauce, W. Allen Taylor — who noted that he has been using it since 1955 — said he currently buys it at Albertsons at 2550 S. Fort Apache Road. And Charlene Fleisher said it can be ordered from Vermont Country Store at www.vermontcountrystore.com (or call 802-362-8460). …

For Elsie Sims, who’s looking for lemon-flavored gelatin, Gloria Castricone e-mailed that she has found it at Vons at 4610 W. Sahara Ave. …

For Terry Trigili, who’s looking for chocolate ice cream with almonds, Virginia Bohannon wrote to suggest that sold at Baskin Robbins, which has numerous locations in the valley. …

More on open-face sandwiches with gravy: Chris Brown recommended Lou’s Diner, 431 S. Decatur Blvd., and Stephani Martinez suggested Jerry’s Famous Coffee Shop at Jerry’s Nugget, 1821 Las Vegas Blvd. North in North Las Vegas. …

Reader requests: Shirley Bulava is looking for Busch’s soft summer sausage, a lunchmeat. …

Ace Phillips is looking for kadota figs in a jar, and Sue Domino is looking for them in a can. …

Zola Saville is looking for a local source for green peppercorns in brine. …

Martin Laskowski is looking for De’Lappe pepperoncini. …

Iris Chandler is looking for Kraft Bacon Cheddar Dip, which she used to find at Wal-Mart. …

Ron and Barb Radke are looking for frying cheese, which they used to get at Sam’s Club. …

Max Schnell is looking for Tomolives, made by Old South. …

M. Angelo Partipilo is looking for Pemberton’s Mustard. …

Dana Gibson is looking for Trappey’s Cut Okra and Tomatoes. …

And there was a little miscommunication between Dunaway and me because of the photo he sent with his query. The breakfast places above mostly serve chunky potatoes, but Dunaway’s looking for shredded hash browns. So are there any suggestions out there?
