Find out where’s the beef stroganoff

Classic beef stroganoff can be difficult to find these days – unless, of course, you’re regular Taste of the Town reader Libby Casolari, who seems to have spent some time tracking it down. So, in answer to a query from “Buffalo” Bob Rusnock, she sent us this list:

Red Square at Mandalay Bay, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South; Emperor’s Buffet at the Imperial Palace, 3535 Las Vegas Blvd. South; Triple George Grill, 201 Third St. (which sometimes has it as a special); and Republic Kitchen & Bar, 9470 S. Eastern Ave. Howard Chatt suggested the coffee shop at the El Cortez, 600 Fremont St., where he said it’s served as a special on Sundays. …

For Jennifer Esposito, who’s looking for supermarkets that sell and restaurants that serve soft-shell crabs, Laurie Brenner recommended Lazy Joe’s Fish & Chips at 7835 S. Rainbow Blvd., Susan Katz suggested King’s Fish House in The District at Green Valley Ranch Resort in Henderson and Pat Ilic said she has purchased them at Glazier’s Food Marketplace, 8525 W. Warm Springs Road. …

For Robert Malinowski, John M. Kawano emailed that Supreme brand tamales, “a real Chicago specialty,” can be found at Chi Town Dogs, 5191 W. Charleston Blvd., and Windy City Beefs and Dogs, 7500 W. Lake Mead Blvd. and 7006 W. Charleston Blvd. …

For Ilse Goebel, who’s looking for Sure-Jell, Doris Weingart reported spotting it on the baking aisle at the Wal-Mart Supercenter at 8060 W. Tropical Parkway. …

More on Jiffy cake mixes: Casolari said they can be found at 99 Cents Only stores;

More on Tastykakes: Bev Greer emailed that they’re available at Geri’s Olde Philadelphia, 3430 E. Tropicana Ave., and some Walgreens stores. …
