Elusive chocolate soda found at Smith’s

One of the most sought-after — and elusive — items in the Taste of the Town column year after year is Canfield’s Diet Chocolate Fudge soda, most recently requested by Barbara Metzger and Phyllis Friedman.

And just when I thought we had no more local sources, it seems that several Smith’s stores carry it. Vivian Manzullo and Roz Friedman found it at the store at 6855 Aliante Parkway in North Las Vegas, Jean Brandt found it at 4440 N. Rancho Drive and Marie Hendricks found it at 450 N. Nellis Blvd., noting that it’s with the mixers, not in the soft-drink aisle.

And Anne McConnell said in case all else fails, she has found www.beveragesdirect.com to be the most economical online source. …

For Larry Klein, who’s looking for Smucker’s Low-Sugar Grape Jelly, Steve Michaelson e-mailed that he found it at two Target stores in the northwest part of the valley, and Linda Gonsalves of Village East Drugs, 5025 S. Eastern Ave., wrote that they carry it as well. …

For Lee Beatty, who’s looking for Zummo’s or other boudain (sometimes spelled boudin), Mae Williams e-mailed that Zummo’s can be found at Mario’s Westside Market, 1960 N. Martin Luther King Blvd., and Chris Jensen of Village Meat & Wine, 5025 S. Eastern Ave., said they carry boudin noir, Louisiana hot boudin and Louisiana mild boudin. …
