Big roasters can be found in valley

Those who eschew scrawny chickens, take heart: In response to a query from Judy A. Lukehart, readers say big roasters are available in the valley.

Sources include “Trader Joe’s, of course!” e-mailed Susan Kallen, adding, “they are deeelicious” (there are four Trader Joe’s stores in Las Vegas and Henderson). Ari Sobel said free-range roasters can be found at the butcher counter at Whole Foods Market at 100 S. Green Valley Parkway in Henderson; there’s another Whole Foods at 8855 W. Charleston Blvd. Ron Lutz, owner of The Butcher Block, 7625 S. Rainbow Blvd., said he carries roasters, and former Smith’s employee Terri Hampton said that chain will order them if they don’t have them in stock. …

For Carl Taylor, Lutz said he will order corned beef tongue. …

Susie Hurt, who’s looking for Lay’s Dill Pickle Potato Chips, will need to take a little drive: Marion Bott, Joan Padilla and Doug said they can be easily found in stores in St. George and Cedar City, Utah. …
