EVENTS
Poet and writer Adam Henry Carriere will have a reading at 7 p.m. today and a workshop for aspiring writers at 2 p.m. Saturday at Reed Whipple Cultural Center, 821 Las Vegas Blvd. North (229-6211).
Barnes and Noble, 567 N. Stephanie St., Henderson, will have "Junie B. Jones Day" celebrating Barbara Park’s children’s book character at 1 p.m. Thursday. Children are encouraged to dress up like Junie or one of her friends. The event will feature a look-a-like contest, readings, activities and prizes.
Mystery Book Group meets at 7 p.m. the first Wednesday of each month; First Friday Book Group meets at 3 p.m. the first Friday of each month at Barnes and Noble, 567 N. Stephanie St., Henderson.
Saturday Morning Book Club meets at 10 a.m. the third Saturday of each month; the Celebrate Romance Reading Group meets the third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m.; the KLVX-TV, Channel 10 Book Group meets at 4 p.m. the last Wednesday of the month; the Young Adventurer’s Book Group for ages 9-12 meets the third Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m.; the Best Book You’ve Never Read book group meets the second Sunday of the month at 7 p.m.; Our Desert Hearts book group meets at 7 p.m. the third Thursday of the month at Barnes and Noble, 8915 W. Charleston Blvd.
Thursday night poetry is offered at 7 p.m. Thursdays at the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, 4550 S. Maryland Parkway.
The Science Fiction & Fantasy Club (SNAFFU) meets at 2 p.m. the fourth Sunday of each month at the Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road.

The Brown Bag Book Club meets at 11 a.m. Thursdays and the Night Readers Book Club meets at 5 p.m. Wednesdays at the Laughlin Library, 2840 S. Needles Highway.
The West Las Vegas Book Club Social Hour is at 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at West Las Vegas Library, 951 W. Lake Mead Blvd.
The Great Books Reading & Discussion Group meets at 7 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. At the next meeting, the group will be discussing "Distributive Justice" by John Rawls from "Collected Papers"; and the Contemporary Fiction Club meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of each month at the Clark County Library, 1401 E.
