Stabbed man seeks help at gas station, is later ID’d as burglary suspect
A man who walked into a northwest valley gas station with stab wounds Monday night was suspected of burglarizing a home earlier in the evening, Las Vegas police said.
The 36-year-old man walked into the Chevron station at 4401 N. Rainbow Blvd. about 8 p.m. bleeding and asking for help, Metropolitan Police Department Lt. David Gordon said. The clerk at the station near Craig Road called 911.
Gordon said the man initially told police he was stabbed by an unknown person, but officers later determined he was stabbed after forcing his way into a home on the 4300 block of Fox Point Drive. The man knocked a 61-year-old woman to the ground as he entered the house.
“The female’s son came to the aid of his mother,” Gordon said.
The son stabbed the intruder, cutting his thumb and chest. At that point, the man drove off in a white Dodge sedan to the Chevron.
The man was taken to University Medical Center’s trauma unit with injuries that were not life-threatening. Gordon said the man was then arrested on burglary and battery charges.
