Men injured in separate stabbings in central Las Vegas
Las Vegas police are investigating two unrelated Sunday night stabbings in the central valley that were reported a few minutes apart.
The first stabbing was called in at 9:08 p.m. after a man with a superficial stab wound to his arm walked into Desert Springs Hospital, Metropolitan Police Lt. David Gordon said.
The man told police he was stabbed while fighting off a would-be robber, Gordon said. The robber grabbed the man from behind near Spencer Street and East Flamingo Road and demanded his money, but fled empty-handed after the man fought back.
Gordon said the second stabbing was reported at 9:14 p.m. at a home near Maryland Parkway and Russell Road, where a bleeding man was standing at the door.
The man was stabbed in the abdomen at least five times, Gordon said, but gave police little information on how he was stabbed or by whom. He was hospitalized and is expected to survive.
