A man accused of fatally stabbing a man near UNLV following a quarrel on a public bus last week was on probation for trying to stab someone else on a bus years earlier, records show.

Emanuel Beccles, 31, is being held at the Clark County Detention Center on a count of murder in the death of Jeff Durroh, according to Las Vegas Justice Court logs.

Durroh, 57, died from multiple stab wounds, the Clark County coroner’s office said Monday.

Beccles also is being held for an alleged probation violation in a seemingly random 2019 attack.

Durroh and Beccles were riding in a Regional Transportation Commission bus at 6:40 p.m. Thursday when they “got into a disturbance,” Las Vegas police said.

After they stepped out of the bus, the men fought and Beccles stabbed Durroh with a 9-to-10-inch blade, police allege.

A security officer in the area who witnessed the slaying detained Beccles while Metropolitan Police Department officers arrived shortly after and arrested him, Lt. Ray Spencer said.

Additional details on the slaying were not immediately available. Beccles is next due in court Tuesday.

In 2019, Beccles pleaded guilty to one count of assault with a deadly weapon, Clark County District Court logs show.

Police were called in February 2019 to another RTC bus where Beccles had brandished a knife and tried to stab someone in central Las Vegas, according to that arrest report.

One victim suffered cuts to his hand, and Beccles also punched a female passsenger, stealing her phone and about $100, police said.

Beccles, who stepped off the bus and broke window with a rock, was tracked using GPS on the woman’s phone, police said. Police later recovered a 9-inch blade, which police said he had tossed away.

After pleading guilty in that attack, Beccles was given probation instead of a two-to-five-year prison sentence, according to court records. He also was ordered to stay away from RTC property and pay $1,000 for the broken window, records show.

Beccles’ probation was later revoked, but reinstated in December with a stipulation that he not own knives, and he was supposed to submit to mental health evaluations, records show.
