Las Vegas police arrest man in connection with fatal stabbing
Police arrested a man Tuesday in connection with Sunday’s fatal stabbing.
Juan Rubio, 42, was arrested Tuesday and booked into the Clark County Detention Center on one charge of first-degree murder with a deadly weapon, the Metropolitan Police Department said.
About 4:45 p.m. Sunday, Metro patrol officers were dispatched to University Medical Center to investigate a man reportedly suffering from stab wounds, Metro said in a press release.
According to Metro, the man was at a residence in the 200 block of Sir Phillip Street when he became involved in an argument and then a physical fight with another man.
“During that fight, the victim was stabbed and he was transported to the hospital by a friend who was also present,” the release said.
The man, later identified as 31-year-old Michael William Omalia, died at UMC of multiple sharp force injuries, according to the Clark County coroner’s office.
