Woman killed after letting gunman into apartment Wednesday night ID’d

A 24-year-old woman died late Wednesday after she answered a knock at her door and was shot multiple times at an apartment complex in the central valley.

Tatiana Webster, of Las Vegas by way of California, answered a knock about 10:20 p.m. at her Skyline Parc apartment, on the northwest corner of Cambridge Street and Twain Avenue, Metro Lt. Charles Jenkins said.

When Webster opened the door, she let at least one person into the apartment where she lived with other tenants, police said. In minutes, she was shot multiple times, and when the other tenants rushed out and found her, she was left lying in the doorway, dying.

By then, the shooter or shooters had run away.

Webster was taken to nearby Sunrise Hosptial and Medical Center’s trauma unit, where she died.

Police had not named a motive or shooter description as of Thursday afternoon.

“The community’s involvement will be vital in identifying a suspect or suspects,” Metrop0litan Police Department spokeswoman Laura Meltzer said.

Webster’s family was reached but declined to comment. She did not have a local criminal record.

On Thursday afternoon, an aunt, Vanessa Webster, posted to Facebook about her niece’s death: “Rest in Paradise Peaches.”

This was Metro’s 63rd homicide the year.
