Updated October 12, 2020 - 9:28 am

Police are looking for a man who shot at them early Monday in the east Las Vegas Valley

Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to the scene about 3:08 a.m. Monday after a report of a possible illegal shooting on the 3500 block of Villa Knolls North Drive, near East Tropicana Avenue and South Pecos Road, according to a news release.

They were unable to locate victims or evidence of the shooting, but they found a man with a temporary protection order against him, which had not been served.

They were serving the order when a different man fired several rounds at officers.

“One of the officers returned fire and the suspect fled on foot,” the release stated. “Officers initiated a foot pursuit, during which the suspect turned and fired several more rounds at the officers.”

An officer returned fire and took cover, according to the release. The officers lost sight of the suspect, who remains outstanding.

There were no reported injuries.

Within 72 hours, authorities will hold a news conference and release body camera footage and additional information, Capt. Sasha Larkin said in a video statement.
