Person shot while driving in east valley
A person was shot Thursday night in the east valley.
The shooting happened about 8:30 pm. on the 1500 block of Eastern Avenue near the Owens Avenue intersection, Metro Lt. Charles Jenkins said.
The person shot was driving a car on Eastern when someone on the sidewalk shot him multiple times. When that happened, the injured driver then careened the car into a couple of parked vehicles before coming to a stop.
The person shot was taken to University Medical Center’s trauma unit with nonlife-threatening injuries.
It’s unclear what led up to the shooting or if the shooter knew the person shot. No suspect description was released as of 10 p.m.
