Pahrump man arrested in connection with shooting of girlfriend

A Pahrump man was arrested last week in connection with the July shooting of his girlfriend.

Gregory Earl Uribe, 59, of Pahrump was taken into custody Oct. 10 and booked into the Nye County Detention Center.

The unidentified 37-year-old woman was shot just after 5:30 p.m. July 2 inside the couple’s Pahrump home, the Nye County sheriff’s office said. She was taken to University Medical Center’s trauma unit in Las Vegas, where she made a “partial recovery,” authorities said. Because of the extent of her injuries, the woman couldn’t provide detectives any information at the time.

Uribe was at the scene when the shooting happened but denied any involvement, the sheriff’s office said. He was interviewed again Oct. 10 and he told authorities he lied during the initial investigation and that he shot the woman after an argument.

Because of prior convictions, Uribe is prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm, the sheriff’s office said. He faces one count each of battery with a deadly weapon, discharging a weapon where a person might be endangered, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and obstruction of a public officer.

His bail is set at $100,000 as he awaits formal arraignment in Pahrump Justice Court.
