One dead after Saturday night drive-by shooting

A man died after a Saturday night drive-by shooting in the downtown area.

Police responded to reports of a shooting in the 1600 block of Palm Street just before 11 p.m. Saturday. Officers arriving to the scene found a man on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds.

The man was taken to University Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators said the man was walking on the sidewalk when he was approached by a light-colored, possible newer model 4-door sedan. Someone inside the car fired several shots at the man before speeding away on Olive Street.

The man’s identity will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s office when his next of kin have been notified. Police said no suspects have been identified and the motive behind the shooting is unknown.

This is the 100th homicide Metro has investigated this year.
