North Las Vegas police officer ‘shot at’ during investigation
A North Las Vegas police officer “was shot at during an investigation” near Craig Road and Decatur Boulevard, according to North Las Vegas police.
Officers received a call of a disturbance about 9 a.m. in the 4800 block of Partegus Street and saw three men leaving the area in a vehicle. Officers were following the vehicle when shots were fired from the suspect vehicle toward the officer’s direction, North Las Vegas police spokesman Aaron Patty said.
The officer was not struck by gunfire and did not return fire, Patty said.
The three men continued to flee the area and officers gave chase. When the officers arrived near Craig Road and Decatur Boulevard, the suspects bailed out of the vehicle. One person was taken into custody and the other two stole a gray GMC Sierra pickup truck used for landscaping. The truck has a black trailer attached, Patty said.
The stolen truck, occupied by a white man and a black man, who may be armed, is still being sought, police said.
Westbound Craig at Decatur was reopened to traffic about 1:15 p.m. after being closed for several hours for the investigation.
