Man killed in early Sunday shooting in east Las Vegas Valley

A man was killed in a shooting Sunday morning in the central Las Vegas Valley, police said.

The shooting happened around 6:22 a.m. in the parking lot at a shopping center, directly in front of Top Knotch Apparel at 4320 S. Decatur Blvd., near Flamingo Road.

The victim, who was in his late 20s, was taken to University Medical Center and pronounced dead at 7 a.m., Metropolitan Police Department homicide Lt. Dan McGrath said.

Some of the victim’s personal items, such as jewlery and shoes, remained strewn about the lot as of 10 a.m. McGrath said the items showed signs of a struggle, however the motivation for the shooting remains unclear.

No arrests have been made, but a man has been detained, McGrath said.

Four or five people were inside the building at the time of the shooting, McGrath said.

He said he considered it “unusual” that no one reported hearing the gunshot.

The incident was one of two deadly shootings in the Las Vegas Valley Sunday morning.
