Henderson police say empty patrol car was shot July 4

An empty Henderson police car was shot the night of July 4 while parked at the Animal Care and Control Facility.

The damage was discovered July 5 at 300 E. Galleria Drive near Boulder Highway, police said. The vehicle had been parked at the facility during refurbishment.

No animal control officers or police personnel were injured during the incident, police said.

“In today’s climate, we take these incidents seriously as officer safety is of utmost importance,” Police Chief Patrick Moers said. “We ask our community members to continue to work with us and to be our eyes and ears on the street. If you see something, say something.”

The shooting remains under investigation.
