The Henderson City Council on Tuesday night recognized the efforts of all Southern Nevada first responders, medical personnel and medical organizations for their efforts during the Oct. 1 mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival.
“We can never personally thank all of you and all of the people who helped our community, but we will never forget what you accomplished,” Henderson Mayor Debra March said during the presentation.
A gunman killed 58 people and wounded 546 by shooting from a 32nd-floor window of the Mandalay Bay down on a festival crowd of more than 22,000. Charleston Hartfield, a 34-year-old Henderson man who was a member of the Metropolitan Police Department and the Nevada National Guard, was among those killed.
First responders from Henderson, North Las Vegas, Las Vegas, Clark County and other agencies were recognized for their valleywide efforts.
Mayor Debra March and Henderson City Council members presented certificates to all who were present.
