2 critical after shooting outside North Las Vegas apartments
A man and woman were hospitalized in critical condition Saturday afternoon after a shooting in North Las Vegas, police said.
Police were called around 3 p.m. to an apartment complex on the 3300 block of Civic Center Drive, near East Cheyenne Avenue, to find three people injured as a result of a shooting, said North Las Vegas Police Department spokesman Eric Leavitt.
A 26-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman were shot outside of an apartment complex, while a 27-year-old man was grazed with a bullet. The two people shot were transported to University Medical Center and were in critical but stable conditionSaturday afternoon, Leavitt said.
Detectives believed the shooting took place between two groups of people, and officers were attempting to determine if gunfire had been exchanged, Leavitt said. Police do not believe it was a random act of violence.
No suspects have been arrested in the shooting, he said. Police continued to investigate the scene and interview witnesses Saturday afternoon.
The shooting takes place at the same apartment complex where two young men were shot and killed within a week at the end of October.
On Oct. 26, 20-year-old Andru Jarone Rollins was gunned down outside of an apartment when police believe he was speaking with a group of people. Four days later, on Oct. 30, 18-year-old Keimarre Galvin died from multiple gunshot wounds after police found him in the apartment complex’s courtyard.
No suspects have been identified in either case, according to Las Vegas Review-Journal records.
Leavitt said police on Saturday did not believe that day’s shooting was related to the two fatal October shootings.
