Thief who strikes Spring Mountain corridor hunted by Las Vegas police

Deputy Chief Jose Hernandez talks about three early Wednesday morning burglaries that occurred ...

A man who committed three burglaries early Wednesday is suspected in 29 burglaries in the Spring Mountain Road corridor since June, Las Vegas police said in a briefing Wednesday afternoon.

Around 3:20 a.m., the suspect crouched along corridors and stole from three businesses near Spring Mountain and Wynn roads, the Metropolitan Police Department said.

Police did not provide a dollar amount in the thefts thus far. Some photos show the suspect carrying an entire safe out of businesses.

Assistant Sheriff Jamie Prosser said police have taken an “agency-wide approach,” and are using all department resources. They are also calling on the public for help in identifying the suspect.

“Someone knows this individual,” Deputy Chief Jose Hernandez said.

The suspect typically sports dark colors but can also be seen in bright colors — police showed one photo of him in a bright blue body suit. He also covers his entire face and wears large gloves over his hands, which Hernandez said resemble welding gloves. Hernandez noted that his sneakers are distinct, and he often wears brightly colored shoes.

The burglaries have all occurred along the Spring Mountain corridor, typically in the early-morning hours.

Hernandez encouraged the public to check their own surveillance footage for any evidence.

“We can put an end to this senseless series,” he said.
