Police investigate 2 Las Vegas Valley homicides

Updated October 20, 2020 - 6:06 pm

Las Vegas detectives were investigating two homicides early Friday in the Las Vegas Valley.

Metropolitan Police Department homicide Sgt. Jon Scott said officers in the first case were called to the 3000 block of East Desert Inn Road at 4:08 a.m. for a report of a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the parking lot of the Pecos-McLeod Plaza.

He was transported to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center Trauma Unit where he was pronounced dead.

Police said Friday afternoon they believe the victim was fighting with an adult black man who they believe is between 5’10 and 6’2, last seen wearing a black hoodie and black pants.

‘The argument escalated which led to the suspect taking out a firearm and shooting the victim,” police said.

In the second case, homicide detectives were investigating at the intersection of North 4th Street and East Adams Avenue sometime before 4 a.m., the sergeant said.

Police had released very few details on that case, saying only that they found a person deceased at the intersection surrounded by a group of people.

Identification of either victim will be pending notification of kin.

Anyone with information about either incident is urged to contact the LVMPD Homicide Section by phone at 702-828-3521, or by email at homicide@lvmpd.com.
