North Las Vegas police recover vehicle stolen by man linked to homicide
Police on Saturday recovered the vehicle used by a man arrested in connection with a homicide and who escaped police custody Friday.
The truck Alonso Perez, 25, stole after he slipped his handcuffs was in the 3500 block of West Cheyenne Avenue on Friday night, North Las Vegas police spokesman Aaron Patty said.
Police said Perez was arrested about 10 a.m. Friday; he is linked to the fatal shooting of 31-year-old Mohammed Robinson on Aug. 27 in a parking lot in the 3000 block of Las Vegas Boulevard North.
After his arrest, Perez was taken to the department’s detective bureau at 3525 W. Cheyenne Ave., Patty said. About 12:45 p.m., with the detective out of the room, Perez turned the handcuffs until he broke free and then escaped the building, Patty said.
Police said Perez stole a 2016 Ford F-250 pickup truck from a nearby business and fled. Patty said the vehicle was returned to the owner Saturday.
Police described Perez as a 6-foot-3, 200-pound Hispanic man with black hair, brown eyes and a goatee. He was wearing a white No. 21 jersey with two blue stripes on the sleeves, dark shorts and black shoes.
Patty said Perez has a 3-inch “Air Jordan” logo tattoo on the left of his neck. Patty said Perez is considered armed and dangerous. He said anyone with information on Perez’s location can call North Las Vegas police at 702-633-9111 or Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
