Las Vegas shooting victim: Bill Wolfe Jr., Shippensburg, Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania youth sports coach Bill Wolfe Jr. is among those killed in the attack on the Route 91 Harvest country music festival, authorities in his hometown confirmed Tuesday.
“It is with the most of broken hearts, the families of Bill Wolfe Jr. and his wife Robyn share that Bill has been confirmed to be among the deceased as a result of the mass attack in Las Vegas,” read a statement from the Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, Police Department. “Please continue to hold our entire family as well as those affected across the nation in your unending prayers.”
Wolfe, a youth sports coach and 42-year-old father of two, was celebrating his 20th anniversary with his wife, Robyn, when the shooting happened.
Wolfe was a Little League coach and coached the Shippensburg youth wrestling program for children in kindergarten through sixth grade, said Tony Yaniello, head coach of Shippensburg High School’s varsity wrestling team.
“Bill was a unique person,” Yaniello told the Review-Journal. “He wasn’t self-centered. He was very smart and intelligent and always willing to help.
“Some people simply live in the community, Bill lived for his community.”
Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf also expressed his condolences on Facebook.
“On behalf of our family and all Pennsylvanians, our hearts go out to the Wolfe family and the entire Shippensburg community,” he wrote.
Wolfe leaves behind two young sons, Ethan and Trevor, according to Yaniello.
A GoFundMe page was set up by the Shippensburg Greyhound Wrestling Boosters to provide the Wolfe family with financial support.
As of 4:30 p.m., more than $22,950 was raised by 440 people.
