Las Vegas police looking for person of interest in July homicide

Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating a person of interest in connection to a July homicide.

The Metropolitan Police Department released a video depicting an unknown person driving to the apartment of Kathleen Ploutz, located at 499 Sierra Vista Drive, near the intersection of Paradise and East Desert Inn roads.

According to Metro, a man arrived at the apartment about 9 p.m. July 17, the night before Ploutz’s body was found near the Special Events Beach at Boulder Basin in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

“He was driving an unknown make/model SUV, and Ploutz can be seen walking to the vehicle with this person of interest,” Metro said in a news release.

Ploutz, 61, died of multiple stab and cut wounds, the Clark County coroner’s office said. Her death was ruled a homicide.

Metro asked anyone with information regarding Ploutz’s location in the days before her body was discovered — or with any information regarding the person of interest seen in the video — to contact Metro’s homicide section by phone at 702-828-3521, or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.

No further details were immediately available.
