Henderson police investigate deaths of 2 children as homicides

Updated July 20, 2021 - 6:50 pm

Henderson detectives are investigating the deaths of two children discovered dead late Monday as homicides, police said Tuesday.

Officers were called to the 700 block of Calamus Palm Place to investigate a medical emergency just after 6:30 p.m. on Monday.

When they arrived, they found a 1-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy “beyond assistance” and dead at the scene, police said on Tuesday. More information on the circumstances of the call was not immediately available.

Police on Monday said the deaths were considered suspicious, and police confirmed on Tuesday that they are being investigated as homicides.

It is unclear if anyone has been arrested in connection with the deaths.

Neighbor Nick Nguyen said he was shocked to return home Monday night and find officers blocking off his street, congregating at a home on Calamus Palm Place that sits two doors down from his. Two ambulances also were at the scene.

“I was actually coming back from the grocery store when all this was going on,” Nguyen said on Tuesday.

The Clark County coroner’s office will identify the children and determine their cause and manner of death.

Anyone with information may contact the Henderson Police Department at 702-267-4911 or, to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
