Stepson faces murder charge in Las Vegas shooting death of man
A verbal altercation that turned violent resulted in a fatal shooting in the northwest valley Tuesday night, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
The victim’s 22-year-old stepson, Alexander Renteria, was arrested at the residence in the 10100 block of Royal Mint Avenue, near North Hualapai Way and West Elkhorn Road, in Centennial Hills.
About 9:06 p.m., Metro received a report of a shooting at the home, according to a Metro news release.
Arriving officers found a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Medical personnel took the victim to University Medical Center where he died.
Homicide detectives learned that the victim was in a verbal altercation with Renteria who produced a gun and shot the victim. He was detained at the scene and booked into the Clark County Detention Center on suspicion of open murder.
The identification of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office.
