Clark County coroner’s office identifies teen killed in Monday shooting

The teenager shot and killed after a gunfight at an apartment pool Monday evening has been identified.

Jhronne Maddox, a 17-year-old Las Vegas resident, died of a gunshot wound to the back, according to the Clark County coroner’s office. His death was ruled a homicide.

Police said those involved in the gunfight had exchanged words before shots were fired about 7 p.m. near the pool of the Silverwood Apartments at 3050 Nellis Blvd. Metro Lt. Jeff Goodwin said police were called by several people who lived in the complex and reported a “very hostile, violent crowd” in the parking lot.

Police said Maddox was chased and possibly targeted during the gunfight.

No arrests have been made in connection with the case, and no details about a possible suspect have been released, Metro spokesman Larry Hadfield said.

Metro said Maddox’s death was the 70th homicide in its jurisdiction for 2016.
