Clark County coroner IDs teen killed Sunday near West Las Vegas Library
The shooting death of a 17-year-old boy at a basketball court Sunday marks the fourth known death of a Shadow Ridge High School student since August.
According to the Clark County coroner, the shooting victim was Tiris Coleman Jr. of Las Vegas. He was a Shadow Ridge senior and a varsity lineman on the school’s football team.
Coleman was chased down and shot in the neck about 5 p.m. Sunday after an altercation near the West Las Vegas Library, located at 951 W. Lake Mead Blvd., according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
He died less than a half-hour later at University Medical Center.
No suspect has been named in Coleman’s slaying, but detectives believe the shooter was a juvenile. A group of three young males was seen running south from the scene after shots were fired.

Another student, Jaelan Fajardo, 16, died Feb. 9 when a DUI suspect plowed into the back of his car as he was driving himself to school.
