One person dead, several injured in 5-vehicle crash
By Kimberly De La Cruz Las Vegas Review-Journal
Las Vegas police said criminal charges may be filed in connection with a five-vehicle crash near McCarran International Airport that killed a woman and sent several people to the hospital Monday morning.
The crash happened about 8:05 a.m. in the intersection of Paradise and Sunset roads, Metro said. Investigators believe a 2011 Honda Pilot rear-ended a 2003 Nissan Altima traveling east on Sunset. The impact caused the Nissan to hit a traffic signal pole. The Honda Pilot overturned and hit three other cars in the left turn lanes to southbound Paradise.
The driver of the Nissan, Elaine Robinson, 39, of Las Vegas, died at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center.
One other person had minor injuries. The driver of the Honda Pilot stayed on the scene and did not show any signs of impairment, police said.
This is the 61st traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction in 2015.
