Officer involved in Monday shooting identified

A Las Vegas police officer who shot a man Monday was identified Friday.

Police said Jorge Marty-Pagan, 26, a patrol officer in the Northwest Area Command, shot Allen Stout, 36, after Stout entered a random home and held several people hostage.

Marty-Pagan has been an officer since 2007, police said. He was placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.

The incident happened about 5 p.m. Monday at the Marquesa condominiums at 7200 Pirates Cove Road, near Tenaya Way and Westcliff Drive. Police said Marty-Pagan shot Stout in the stomach after the man waved a gun over his head and asked officers to shoot him. The gun may have been a BB gun, police said.

Stout survived the shooting and was charged with several felonies, including home invasion and six counts of first-degree kidnapping. He did not know the residents at the home.

Stout had been accused of choking his ex-girlfriend, who lived in the condo complex, about 2 p.m. Monday. Police were called to the scene, but Stout already had left the area.

He returned about 4:30 p.m., and the ex-girlfriend called police. Stout, apparently trying to hide, then entered the random condo where he was shot, police said.
