Northern Arizona man arrested in robbery of bank he hit in 2001
The man arrested an hour after a bank robbery in Golden Valley, Ariz., on Thursday served time in prison for robbing the same bank a decade ago.
Court records indicate Keith Coggins was 18 years old when he robbed a Stockman’s Bank branch teller of $1,400 in January 2001.
He robbed the same bank three weeks later, fleeing with $72,200 from the vault.
He later entered a plea agreement and was sent to prison for five years.
Mohave County sheriff’s office spokeswoman Trish Carter said Coggins was arrested in a robbery at the same bank again on Thursday, though it’s now called National Bank of Arizona.
This time, he was apprehended after he wrecked his truck at the end of a 15-minute police pursuit.
“This guy apparently didn’t learn anything,” said Jim Stull, a retired detective who obtained Coggins’ confession in 2001. “He’s not getting any better at it either.”
Coggins was being held in the county jail in Kingman on an armed robbery charge.
