Man arrested in arson had previous incidents with church officials
He was angry with the church officials, and it wasn’t the first time.
He threatened the pastor and his family, and a few years prior, had violently destroyed the deacon’s phone.
Early Friday morning, the front of the church went up in flames.
Adrian Kincade, 35, was arrested and faces arson and burglary charges after admitting to police that he started the 3 a.m. fire in the front hallway and entry of Nellis Baptist Church, according to his arrest report.
Police said a witness observed Kincade exiting the building shortly after the fire began.
While being questioned, Kincade stated to police “I started it,” and “I took matches and paper and set a bench on fire near the entrance to the left of the door,” according to the report.
He was at the church to take care of business, he told police, and the pastor tried to “back door him,” and that “he is not keeping it real,” according to the report.
The fire, started with burning cinder bricks, caused $100,000 in damage to the church at 4300 Las Vegas Blvd. North, near Nellis Boulevard. The fire did not extend to the chapel, though there was smoke damage, according to Clark County fire officials.
