Clark County coroner identifies man killed in apparent murder-suicide in Henderson

The Clark County coroner’s office has identified the man killed in Monday’s apparent murder-suicide in Henderson.

Michael James Yonke, 38, died of a gunshot wound to the head, the coroner’s office said. His death was ruled a suicide.

After 6 p.m. Monday, Henderson police responded to a home in the 2800 block of Blythswood Square in Anthem Highlands after a relative of a woman who lived at the home requested police check on her welfare, Henderson police said.

After failing to make contact with the residents, officers entered the home and found the body of a 41-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound, and a man, Yonke, suffering from an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.

Police said Yonke and the woman, who wasn’t identified, were married. Police added that officers had responded to the residents after a nonviolent family disturbance in August.

Police said the woman’s death was the seventh homicide in Henderson in 2016.
