Group promoting clean energy names president and CEO

The Nevada Institute for Renewable Energy Commercialization, a nonprofit group offering consulting and venture capital assistance to early stage clean-energy companies, has named Walt Borland president and chief executive officer.

Borland replaces James Croce, who had served as the institute’s president and CEO since June 2009. Croce will remain with the group as an executive in residence.

Borland, who has been working with the Incline Village-based institute as an executive in residence, will work from an office in Las Vegas beginning in October. He is a former president and CEO of Windspire Energy, a Reno-based wind turbine company, and founded the Clean Energy Foundation, a nonprofit organization focused on accelerating the development of Nevada’s clean energy resources.
