Biden to be keynote speaker at National Clean Energy Summit

Reid is a cosponsor of the summit, which is held locally each year.

Attendees at the summit will discuss policies and programs to promote clean energy, including investments in electricity production and delivery, cars and transportation, energy-efficient buildings and homes and new green-power sources.

Also on the agenda are talks about reducing power-plant pollution and raising fuel-economy standards, said John Podesta, president and CEO of summit cosponsor Center for American Progress.

Other speakers scheduled to attend include Reid, Gov. Brian Sandoval, MGM Resorts International Chairman and CEO Jim Murren, U.S. Secretary of Energy Steven Chu, Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus, California Gov. Jerry Brown and Washington Gov. Christine Gregoire.

The summit is scheduled for Aug. 30 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Aria.
