Representative says Binion’s cuts about 20 full-time jobs

Binion’s in downtown Las Vegas has eliminated about 20 full-time jobs, a company spokeswoman said.

Spokeswoman Lisa Robinson said the continuing recession led the company Monday to eliminate its valet company parking service and make changes in the food and beverage department.

“Over the last 2½ years, Binion’s Gambling Hall and Hotel has had to adjust to the challenges brought about by this unprecedented economic recession,” Robinson said in a statement. “We have had to make difficult decisions, and without significant improvement in the economy and our own revenue, we must continue to make them.”

The company’s self-parking garages for guests remain open and are free for casino customers with validation. She said Binion’s also stopped serving meals to employees in the employee dining room; instead they will be paid for one meal per shift.
