PokerStars allowing American players to withdraw account funds

PokerStars has begun allowing American players to withdraw the money in their accounts, following last week’s agreement with the federal government to return its dot-com domain, according to a company executive.

Steve Day, an executive with PokerStars, said in a podcast on the poker site Two Plus Two that a number of requests have been accepted and players “should have their money within a matter of days.”

“The funds to cover these withdrawal requests are readily available,” according to the company.

The company said U.S. players withdrawing from PokerStars are required to take their entire account balance off the site.

PokerStars is the first of the three poker sites with domains and accounts seized by the U.S. Department of Justice on April 15 to begin processing cash outs.

Full Tilt Poker has not announced when it will begin reimbursing poker players in the United States. The third site, Absolute Poker, said on Saturday it was still in negotiations with the Justice Department over the return of its dot-com domain.
