Court backs IGT patent infringement claim
Slot maker International Game Technology (IGT) said today it won a patent infringement claim against rival Bally Technologies (BYI).
A federal judge in Delaware ruled that Bally’s "Power Rewards" technology and Bally’s "ACSC Power Winners" technology infringed on patents owned by IGT.
IGT filed the lawsuit against Bally in 2006, alleging that the infringement took place despite "defendants’ knowledge that IGT’s patents cover the Bally Power Bonusing technology."
The lawsuit seeks monetary damages and an injunction. In a statement, IGT said it expects a trial will assess damages following a period of related discovery.
"We are pleased that the court has affirmed the validity of our patents and their infringement," IGT Chief Executive Officer Patti Hart said in a statement.
