10-10-10 poker promotion nets two winning hands
A promotion Sunday inside the various poker rooms operated by Station Casinos, surrounding the date of Oct. 10, 2010 (10-10-10), netted just two $10,000 winners.
The promotion centered on the game of hold’em. A player with pocket 10s would automatically win $10,000 if the flop (three community cards) included the other two 10s.
Weldon Russell, corporate director of poker room operations for Station Casinos, said two players, one at Red Rock Resort and one at Sunset Station, each flopped four 10s to win the promotion and the extra payout.
With all of the company’s poker rooms offering the promotion, and with games running throughout a 24-hour time periods, its unclear how many hands of hold’em were dealt Sunday.
Russell said Red Rock’s poker room, Station Casinos’ largest, was “non-stop packed” throughout the day with very few open seats. Other poker rooms also were busy, he said.
One amateur statistician estimated the odds of flopping four 10s was roughly 80,000-to-1 against the player.
