Long-lasting Taurus at Friendly Ford
The Ford Taurus has a long history. Introduced in the 1986 model year, the vehicle now is in its seventh generation. Proof of the Taurus’s popularity is that it has remained in near-continuous production for more than two decades.
The full-size 2016 model available at Friendly Ford includes sure-footed handling, powerful performance, a spacious interior, Smart driver-assist technologies and generous trunk space along with SYNC 3, the company’s next generation of voice-activated technology.
Ford Motor Co.’s engine technology is a big part of the 2016 Taurus, with available engines that include the 3.5 Ti-VCT V-6 with 288 horsepower; the 2.0-liter EcoBoost I-4 with 240 horsepower and the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 producing 365 horsepower.
Each power plant comes with the six-speed Select Shift Automatic transmission with fuel mileage ratings ranging from 16 city to 27 highway.
The safety and security package includes three-point safety belts for all seating positions, Advance-Trac electronic stability control and Curve Control, child safety rear door locks, emergency trunk release, front-seat side airbags, illuminated entry system, rearview camera and tire pressure monitoring system.
Available in SE, SEL, Limited and Sho models, the 2017 Taurus remains a popular model at Friendly Ford.
Friendly Ford sales manager Matt Cavaness, a 35-year veteran of the car business, has driven several Taurus models since 1988.
“The new Taurus is probably the best road car today,” he said. “It’s a well-balanced car with the performance that is second-to-none.”
The 54-year-old Cavaness said the buyer profile of the Taurus includes accomplished businessmen in their late 40s and up.
“The balance of the car itself is its greatest attribute,” said Cavaness. “It’s a road car, but it’s also a great daily commute vehicle, too. I sell the Taurus models often and I always feel comfortable knowing that my customers will enjoy the vehicle.
“In fact, the Taurus model is driven by many police departments all over the country. The police drive a version of the Sho model which has 365 horsepower.”
Friendly Ford opened in 1970. The dealership is a 17-time winner of the prestigious President’s Award, Ford’s highest single honor for customer satisfaction.
