Edmunds.com praises QX70, now at Park Place Infiniti
When it comes to the ever-growing luxury crossover class, the 2016 Infiniti QX70 stands apart in what Edmunds.com calls “an edgy design” that promises sporty performance, abundant standard features, an easy-to-use technology interface and distinctive style.
“Our crossover category is definitely becoming more popular at our dealership,” said Joe Tortomasi, general manager of Park Place Infiniti, 5555 W. Sahara Ave. “Our clients rave about the interior luxury and sporty performance of this five-passenger QX70 that has the versatility inherent in the crossover class.”
This year’s model is purposefully designed and crafted for balance and aerodynamics. The carmaker’s engineering incorporates standard side air vents that reduce front-end lift by 5 percent. Plus, its 325-horsepower, 3.7-liter V-6 engine gives drivers a unique thrill, enhanced by the singular “Infiniti sound” coming from the combined dual intake and exhaust system.
Infiniti officials tout the 2016 QX70’s available Intelligent all-wheel drive, which adds to its responsive handling by instantly adapting to changing conditions. Constantly monitoring wheel-spin, throttle position and vehicle speed, the system automatically diverts up to 50 percent of available power to the front wheels for maximum traction and control in adverse conditions. When all-wheel drive is not needed, 100 percent of the power is channeled to the rear wheels for a sports-like performance.
According to Edmunds testing, a V-6-powered QX70 all-wheel-drive model accelerated from zero to 60 in just 6.2 seconds, quick for a midsize luxury SUV.
To further the point, the Edmunds.com review lauds how the QX70 blends characteristics of a sports car and SUV, as the low, swooping roofline crowns an SUV-like lower body. The QX70 offers more than just looks.
“It has responsive, sporty driving manners that few rivals can match and an interior with premium materials and excellent fit and finish,” according to Edmunds.com. “The QX70’s technology interface, though far from trendy, also remains one of the easiest to use.”
The 2016 QX70 features Infiniti’s signature Around View Monitor, delivering advanced technology that makes parking easier. Four cameras positioned around the vehicle give drivers a virtual 360-degree bird’s eye view on the display. Additionally, Infiniti has enhanced the system with Moving Object Detection to alert drivers to detected moving objects.
Enriching the safety technology features is the QX70’s available Infiniti Intelligent cruise control (full-speed range) that provides the benefits of cruise control with the options of adding speed and distance intervals. The system can automatically slow the vehicle as traffic slows to help the driver maintain distance, then reaccelerates to the preset speed and distance as traffic flow picks up. Simultaneously, the available Distance Control Assist helps the driver release the throttle and can even apply the brakes in slowing traffic.
While the QX70 places a heavy emphasis on performance, designers didn’t give short shrift to the interior, according to Edmunds.com. The passenger cabin is a stylish space outfitted in high-quality materials including soft leather upholstery accented with genuine wood and brushed metal trim.
Edmunds.com also highlights the 2016 QX70’s standard features, including 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic bi-xenon headlights, fog lights, power-folding heated mirrors, a sunroof, a power lift gate, keyless ignition and entry, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, heated eight-way power front seats (with two-way power driver lumbar), a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, 60/40-split folding and reclining rear seats and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
The list of standard electronics includes a rearview camera, Bluetooth phone connectivity, a 7-inch color display screen and an 11-speaker Bose surround-sound audio system with satellite radio, a CD player and an USB audio interface.
An available Sport package includes 21-inch wheels, adaptive xenon headlights, dark-tinted exterior trim, contrasting stitching on interior surfaces, paddle shifters and ventilated front sport seats.
