CONTEST OFFERS CANDY-MAKERS SWEET DEAL

Visions of sugarplums may dance in the heads of the children in Clement Clarke Moore’s " ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas," but something tells us Review-Journal readers can do better than sugar-coated prunes.

Oh, those holiday sweets so beloved to most of us: fondant cherries, divinity, peanut brittle, chocolates, bonbons and fudge.

If you’re a home candy-maker, we’re asking you to share the fruits of your labors with other R-J readers.

Send us a note about your specialty candy and a recipe, and include your name, age, address and daytime telephone number. We’ll ask 10 readers to whip up a batch each and deliver it to the R-J for judging on Dec. 5 to compete for a $100 prize.

Some of the stories and recipes will be included in a Taste section and online.

Send information to Heidi Knapp Rinella, c/o Las Vegas Review-Journal, P.O. Box 70, Las Vegas, NV 89125-0070, fax it to 383-4676 or e-mail to hrinella@reviewjournal.com with "Candy Contest" in the subject line. The deadline is 5 p.m. Dec. 1.
