Camacho’s Cantina makes Nevada debut

Camacho’s Cantina is the first Nevada venture from the Camacho family, who have five California restaurants (including a Camacho’s Cantina at Universal Studios), plus outlets in the Staples Center, Dodger Stadium, Home Depot Center and Pepsi Center.

The family restaurant offers traditional Mexican fare prepared by chef Miguel Barrajas — assistant to the executive chef at the Las Vegas Hilton for 22 years — who follows Camacho family recipes that are 20 years old. All sauces and salsas are house-made daily. The restaurant is at Aliante Station, 7300 Aliante Parkway in North Las Vegas.

The setting is inspired by the open sightlines and raised ceilings of Aliante Station. Although the walls boast vibrant contemporary Mexican art, the focal point is a chandelier consisting of 2,716 empty Cazadores tequila bottles. (Camacho’s serves 100 brands of tequila.) According to Camacho’s Cantina owner Don Camacho, the bottles were delivered already empty.

"The folks from Cazadores must have had a heck of a party," he joked.

The kitchen is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays, 11 a.m.-1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Sundays. Reservations are not required.
