Bally’s Blu Pool embraces classic Las Vegas with style, comfort, value

You can write a dissertation — and some hotel management student probably will one of these days — on the evolution of Las Vegas summertime pool events.
And when that dissertation appears, let it note that Blu Pool at Bally’s turned to Las Vegas’ past in creating its own brand of nowaday cool.
This is the second year Bally’s has hosted the summertime pool event. And, for a sense of the vibe at Blu Pool, think, Aaron Rodriguez suggests, of “classic Las Vegas.”
Physically, that classic Las Vegas vibe manifests itself in a single, oversized, traditional pool. In terms of ambiance, that classic Las Vegas vibe manifests itself in an emphasis on style, comfort and value.
The tropical pool area encompasses a bit more than a half-acre of space, says Rodriguez, pool operations manager for Bally’s Las Vegas and Paris, and the pool deck can accommodate about 1,100 guests.
Blu Pool offers oversized cabanas — there are 10, each about 15 feet by 18 feet — of the sort that, Rodriguez says, “not many casinos in Las Vegas can offer nowadays.”
And there’s this: The pool has a deep end that guests actually can swim in.
“The Blu Pool is 12½-feet deep,” Rodriguez says. “It’s one of the more traditional pools. Many pools (in Las Vegas) have a great setup, but, at Bally’s, it’s very nice to have that deep end there.”
Blu Pool also offers guests 25 daybeds and 75 misting chairs. The former begin at about $45 and the latter at about $25.
Blu Pool offers a menu of custom cocktails, including the signature “Blue Hawaiian.” Bottle service begins at about $100, Rodriguez says, while individual cocktails range from about $9 to $14.
DJs provide the music from noon to 6 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, while the pool’s sound system does the work other days from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
And, in a real nod to that classic Vegas vibe, Blu Pool likes locals. In fact, Bally’s is offering locals an end-of-summer package for $49 on Sundays through Thursdays that includes guaranteed pool deck seating, daily raft rentals, complimentary Absolut and Malibu cocktails and Miller and Coors products, and special pricing on cabanas, misting chairs and daybeds.
The deal is to say thank you to locals, who, Rodriguez says, make up about half of Blu Pool’s clientele.
In fact, Rodriguez says there’s no cover for locals at Blu Pool (cover is $10 for others).
Blu Pool at Bally’s Las Vegas, 3655 Las Vegas Blvd. South, is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
