Horse Racing, Del Mar, Aug. 4

Today at Del Mar

Post Time 2:05 p.m.

Race 1 – 5 furlongs (turf, rail at 14 feet), Purse $71,000, Optional claiming $25,000, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

4 Miss Reditore – Been away 2-months and is dropped in class to the lowest level of her career; $71K purse has something to do with it.

6 Promiscuoussuances – Speedball has not shown the ability to rate; key horse will be what Lindz Winz does, could create a speed duel.

Long Shot – 5 Saturday Nite Wish

Race 2 – 1 mile, Purse $32,000, Claiming $16,000, 3-year-olds and up

7 Lamm – Was in good stride late; Doug O’Neill drops him in class and stays loyal to Chantal Sutherland.

4 Low Gear Power – Subtle class drop can really help his cause; shown tactical speed to sit a nice trip throughout.

Long Shot – 3 Trumpet Player Jay

Race 3 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $71,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, 2-year-olds

2 Winninrulz – Was well bet in debut, though he didn’t run much; returns as a first time gelding and figures to run a lot better.

4 The Humancomplaint – FTS from Ben Cecil who is not known for winning first out; key vote is his hiring of Rafael Bejarano.

Long Shot – 3 Fighting Hussar

Race 4 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 14 feet), Purse $40,000, Claiming $32,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

6 Bonita Star – Returns in a no claim situation for Mike Mitchell; keep in mind she won at Del Mar last year.

5 Entabeni – Sprinter stretching out could be the controlling speed; caveat emptor is she is 0-for-8 at today’s distance.

Long Shot – 3 Saaneen

Race 5 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $70,000, Maiden special weights, 2-year-olds

3 Rolling Fog – You’ll have a big edge over me in seeing the tote board action; all you need to know is the colt is from Bob Baffert.

1 Anytime – Had a tough trip in debut in a turf sprint breaking from post 8; now moves all the way inside and figures to improve.

Long Shot – 8 Modern

Race 6 – 7 furlongs, Purse $45,000, 3-year-olds and up

1 Classic Legacy – Bob Baffert has been culling a lot of stock lately; caveat emptor is a lot of his cheap stock are losing.

6 Master Chef – Claimed by Peter Miller off a gutsy nose win; he has early speed but is stretching out another furlong tonight.

Long Shot – 2 Palio Prince

Race 7 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $70,000, Maiden special weights, 2-year-olds

2 Capo Bastone – FTS from John Sadler; exits a bullet workout and gets hot riding Garrett Gomez to pilot.

7 Distinctiv Passion – Fast working FTS baby from Jeff Bonde; Edwin Maldonado could not have dreamed having such a successful meet.

Long Shot – 9 Denzel

Race 8 – 1 1/16th miles, $300,000 Clement L. Hirsch, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

1 Include Me Out – Still not sure how she lost the Vanity with a clear lead late; she remains one of the best in the distaff division.

7 Star Billing – Had a 4-wide both turns test drive in last; big rider switch to Rafael Bejarano for the money shot.

Long Shot – 3 Switch

Race 9 – 1 1/16th miles (turf, rail at 14 feet), Purse $37,000, Starter allowance $16,000, 3-year-olds and up

2 Keep Me Posted – Claimed by Jack Carava and spotted nicely to win; he is a speedball and better than showed in his SoCal debut.

6 Fire Break – Tepid chalk in a wide open affair; returns to turf where he’s done some of his best running.

Long Shot – 4 Matto Mondo

Race 10 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $25,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

2 Warren’s Passion – Been stuck in neutral so Jorge Gutierrez puts the blinkers on; doesn’t hurt to be reunited with Rafael Bejarano.

6 Addendum – Saul Arias won some races in the past at Philly Park, but now is back in SoCal; he’s not a bad rider either.

Long Shot – 1 Nifty Dream

Best Bet – 1 Include Me Out (race 8)
