Olympic updates

• Jake Dalton, the gymnast from Sparks who made his Olympics debut here, finished fifth in the floor exercise final with a score of 15.333. Kai Zou of China won gold with a 15.933.
• Oscar Pistorius, the first amputee to compete in the Olympics, failed to qualify for Monday night’s final in the 400 meters. In his semifinal heat on Sunday, Pistorius ran 46.54 and finished last.
“In 2016, I’ll probably be at my peak,” he said of the next Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. “I’m looking forward to that more than anything. This all just felt really magical. If I could predict what it would feel like or imagine beyond my wildest dreams, this was probably 10 times that.”
• Holley Mangold, the female weightlifter from Ohio, finished 10th in the super heavyweight class. She was a surprise make for the U.S. team and is expected to challenge for a medal in Rio.
